The Displacement Vessel is made of transparent glass and usually consists of a container with a spout near the top. When the vessel is filled with liquid up to the spout and a solid object is immersed in it, the liquid displaced flows out through the spout. The volume of the displaced liquid, collected in a measuring cylinder, is equal to the volume of the solid object.
