Product Description

The Electrophorus consists of a dielectric plate (commonly made of resin or plastic) and a metallic plate with an insulating handle. When the dielectric plate is rubbed with a cloth, it becomes electrically charged by friction. Placing the metal plate on the charged dielectric induces a charge on the metal plate. By touching the metal plate briefly to ground and then lifting it, a usable static charge is obtained.Typically used in educational settings, the electrophorus demonstrates key concepts in physics, such as charge transfer, the role of conductors and insulators, and the ability to generate static electricity. Despite its simplicity, it can produce impressive sparks and demonstrate important principles in the field of electrostatics.
