The Electrical Vibrator used in Melde’s Apparatus consists of an electrically driven vibrator connected to a light string. The string passes over a pulley and carries a weight at the free end to provide adjustable tension. When the vibrator operates, it produces continuous oscillations that set up stationary (standing) waves on the string.
